HTC One M8 vs. LG G2: Spec by Spec Comparison
The HTC One M8 might be the attention-grabber the company needs to take more of a stronghold in the smartphone market while the LG G2 wasn't quite as hot as the company expected it to be.
The G2 was an undervalued 2013 handset that never quite got the recognition it deserved last year. The HTC One also did not achieve its full potential, but still managed to make much more of an impact than LG's device. The G2 was actually more of a 2014 handset than a 2013 one as it featured superior specs in comparison to some of the devices launched in the beginning of last year. So could it match-up well against HTC's flagship for this year? Here is a comparison of the two.

The LG G2 features a 5.2-inch True HD-IPS + LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1920 x 1080 resolution at 424 ppi. The HTC One M8 comes with a 5-inch LCD screen with the same resolution at 441 ppi. The difference here comes down to the size which makes for a lower ppi and the G2 due to its larger screen. Both are LCD which means that colors will be vibrant, and overall quality will be top notch. This is a tough area to call as the two seem to be pretty even here.
Speed
The HTC One M8 comes with a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB RAM while the LG G2 packs a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with the same amount of RAM. The HTC One definitely has the more updated processor, but the speed difference shouldn't be that significant. Both of these devices are sure to please in this department. However, thanks to newer components, HTC's M8 takes it here.
Camera
HTC put a lot into the One M8 camera. The 4-Ultrapixel dual-rear shooter comes with so many options for customizing photos and is one of the finest camera's to ever hit the market. The LG G2 comes with a 13-megapixel camera that has some of the basic features such as optical image stabilization, face detection and High Dynamic Range. But even with that, HTC's camera system is more complex and better for customers looking for something that is cutting edge in terms of picture taking and shooting video.
Design
LG chose a basic all black design for the G2 that is similar to the one found on the Nexus 5. It's pretty solid and not as showy as the HTC One M8. The improved all metal exterior on the second-gen HTC is perfect for catapulting the device past some of the competitors that have slacked on making looks a priority. The One M8 along with the iPhone 5s are probably the best looking smartphones on the market. It's tough for LG to compete in this area.
Conclusion
Although the LG G2 was an impressive device for 2013, it is still a few steps behind the HTC One M8 when it comes to specs and looks. The camera is not as impressive, the processor is a bit older and the display might be a touch too big for my personal liking. It is still a great handset, but HTC definitely has the edge here.
