Huawei Mate 8 Release Date: Invites Sent Out for Nov. 26 Launch Event
The Huawei Mate 8 was earlier rumored to be released on Nov. 5, but the latest updates point to a later date as the launch of the new smartphone.
The Chinese smartphone maker is hoping to capture the market for high-end devices by releasing the Huawei Mate 8. Recently, the tech firm sent out invites to media organizations for a launch event to be held on Nov. 26, according to Christian Today.
Based on the invite, the launch event will feature the Huawei Mate 8 as the center of attraction. This renders the Nov. 5 rumor moot, the report adds.
The Huawei Mate 8 will reportedly be a 6-inch device that will run on the new Kirin 950 chip. Consumers can choose from the variant with 3 GB or RAM and 32 GB of storage, and the 4 GB variant with 64 GB of storage, the report details. It will also sport a 16-megapixel or 21-megapixel rear snapper and a 5-megapixel or 8-megapixel front snapper, the report details.
A live image of the Mate 8 was leaked online last weekend, and the photo shows the device without its back casing. The leaked photo also shows a rounded camera design with a fingerprint scanner. In addition, a dual-LED flash is also visible, and a hint of a metal frame can be seen. This design is similar to the Mate 7, which was released over a year ago, the Latin Post reports.
There are also reports saying the Huawei Mate 8 will borrow the 3D Touch feature seen in Apple's iPhone 6s. Plus, it will be powered by a 4,100 mAh battery.
The 3 GB variant of the Huawei Mate 8 will reportedly come with a price tag of $520 and the 4 GB variant will cost $610. While the price is a bit higher than expected, Phone Arena says the upcoming high-end smartphone will be worth every dollar.
