iMatter Festival 2013 Helps Suicidal Teens Through Music With Help From HeartSupport

The iMatter Festival, a music event that spreads hope to depressed and suicidal teens, is now being sponsored by non-profit organization, HeartSupport.

HeartSupport's mission is "built on a foundation of faith; one that desires to strengthen the youth and young adults of today. An online community built to encourage, inspire and bring a message of hope. A place to talk about struggles and difficult issues and to find healing and strength in this community. Our ultimate vision is to have a team of young adults who are equipped in counseling youth and to be used as a tool in prevention and mentoring others."

The music festival, founded in 2008, will take place at Eldridge Park in Elmira, N.Y. on Sept. 7 and Christian hardcore and metal bands as well as positive non-Christian bands will be performing.

August Burns Red, For Today, The Color Morale, MyChildren MyBride, My Heart to Fear, Fit For a King, Those Who Fear, GHOSTxSHIP, and Sirens & Sailors are among the listen performers at this point.

Started by Pastor Scott Lowmaster of Glad Tidings Community Life Center in Horseheads, N.Y., the 48 suicides in the Elmira region inspired him to make this free event to encourage and reach out to teens.

"iMatter's vision is a transformed culture of unearthed value, unveiled purpose, and defiant hope in a resilient generation," their site's vision says.

The festivals tagline is "We Will Not Lose Hope."

"We want people to know that, even in their darkest moments, there is still hope. Fighting suicide is a daily struggle for a lot of people and we want them to know that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. We can throw in as many cliché statements as we want, but this thing is, they are all true. It is darkest before the dawn and there is always a silver lining. We will keep fighting until suicide is out of our vocabulary," their site reads.
