iOS 8 Rumors: Apple to Improve Various Features
Apple plans to improve various features in iOS 8 including Notification Center, Voice Memos, Messages, Game Center and CarPlay.
These new rumors originated from a 9to5Mac report that stated that Apple plans to simplify existing apps such as Notifications by eliminating the "All" and "Missed" views and combing then into one "Notifications" view. This makes it easier for users to keep track of items that are important.
Adjustments to Voice Memo will also be made as the controls will be redesigned to distinguish between recording and playback functions.
Messaging is said to come with an optional auto-delete function that will get rid of older messages after a certain amount time.
The Game Center app could be removed. Apple might choose to embed the functionality into games that support the social gaming service. It is also considering improving inter-app communication by creating a new API that allows apps to share data.
CarPlay could be updated to support Wi-Fi connections instead of relying on a lighting cable to link an iOS device to the car's in-dash system.
Apple recently rolled out iOS 7.1 and will most likely release iOS 8 sometime in the fall with a debut in the spring at this year's WWDC. The new software will be introduced on the iPhone 6.
The rumored larger iPhone 6 model will be a variation of the iPhone 5c and not the iPhone 5s.
A new rumor that originated from Mac Otakara states that this bigger version will function as an extension of Apple's lineup and will not replace either of the current-gen models. The site also claims that Apple decided on 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch displays as screen sizes for the models it would want to release later this year.
