iPad Pro, iPad mini 3 iPad Air Competitor Galaxy Tab S Line to Feature Superior Displays
Samsung is rumored to be releasing the new Galaxy Tab S line that will feature superior AMOLED displays.
Sam Mobile reports that the company will introduce two models labeled the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 to start the line. Both of them will come with 2560 x 1600 AMOLED displays. Similar Samsung models have appeared in various leaks and this is the first time a name is being attached to them.
Samsung AMOLED tablet rumors began surfacing out of Korea starting in December of last year. The display technology is currently regarded as one of the most efficient and powerful at this time and is used by Samsung on its line of Galaxy S5 smartphones. Bringing this technology to the tablet line certainly makes them more appealing.
Sam Mobile also reported on other specs for the Galaxy Tab S line. They include an Exynos 5 SoC which combines four Cortex A15 cores with four Cortex A9 cores and a Mali T628 GPU, 3GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera, LTE connectivity, and an IR blaster.
The fingerprint sensor will be embedded in the home button and the back will feature the same dimpled texture as the Galaxy S5. They will be available in both white and grey and will run Android 4.4.2 out of the box.
This line of AMOLED tablets could give the Galaxy Tab line a much needed boost to compete with Apple's next-gen iPads.
Apple is expected to launch three new iPads this year including an even thinner iPad Air, a more advanced iPad mini and the 12.2-inch iPad Pro. The larger model might get delayed until next year, however, nothing is confirmed at this time.
