iPhone 4S Helps Man Catch Cheating Wife
A New York City man has created a buzz in the tech world after he posted on a Mac Rumors forum that he caught his wife cheating on him using Apple's new Find My Friends application.
The man, who posted under the name ThomasMetz, said late Saturday night that he had purchased a new iPhone 4S for his wife and didn't tell her he had also installed the application onto it.
“She told me she was at her friend’s house in the east village,” the man said. “I've had suspicions about her meeting this guy who live uptown. Lo and behold, Find my Friends has her right there.”

The Find My Friends app uses the iPhone's GPS capabilities to help determine the location of a person's family and friends on a map. A description of the app by Apple says it can be useful for keeping track of travel companions when on vacation, keeping tabs on children or locating friends when meeting up for dinner in a public place.
The app's tracking capabilities can be shut off to protect privacy, but the man's unsuspecting wife had no idea it was even on her phone. He texted her at different times late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, and says she lied to him about where she was on several occasions.
He also said he was going to save the screen shots of their texting dialogue and of her location according to the Find My Friends app. The screen shots, he said, are a “beautiful treasure trove” that will work to his advantage when he meets with a divorce lawyer in several weeks.
The post was met by a number of different reactions from those who commented on the thread.
Some mocked the man. Some said just because his wife lied about her location doesn't necessarily mean she was cheating. Others thought his story was just a tall tale and said he needed to post the screen shots to the thread to confirm the story, which he did.
Still, others were more supportive and seemed genuinely concerned about the man's relationship with his wife.
“Terribly sorry to hear. Infidelity is one of the worst things ever. It tore my family apart,” commented one user, whose pseudonym for the forums is uiop. “I wish you the best of luck and hope you're able to work it out without divorce.”
