iPhone 5 Release Date for Consumers on October 18th?
The latest news coming from sources connected to Apple notes that the computer giant is planning to have the iPhone 5 released into consumers hands no later than October 18th.
With the widely reported iPhone 5 unveiling date of October 4th, insiders have begun to speculate the exact date of when consumers can actually purchase the new model.
With Apple’s new CEO Tim Cook expecting to launch his first product since taking over the reins from Steve Jobs, many insiders point to Cook’s personal style as a sign of a quick release of the phone.
Technology blog Mashable.com rounded up a possible release schedule of when consumers should expect the iPhone 5 in stores. They believe that the “launch day falls somewhere between Wednesday, Oct. 5, and Tuesday, Oct. 18”.
The reasons for a quick turnaround to release the phone following the launch date is because of Apple’s willingness to lessen the lag time. When the iPhone 4 was released in 2010, there were only 19 days between launch date and release. When the iPad 2 was released back in March, the lag time was only nine days.
Fans of the iPhone hope that Apple continues the trend and release the phone within nine days of October 4th.
As the launch date inches closer, fans have started polls and discussions have been made to correctly guess the day that Apple will the iPhone 5.
