Its official name is the Jawbone Up and it can track a users step, distance traveled, pace and calories burned throughout a day. It even vibrates when it is time to get active.
The bracelet uses the proprietary MotionX engine that is the result of years of research in the field.
The company made a formal announcement today confirming the launch of the new product.
The Jawbone Up retails at $99 and will be available online through Apple and AT&T. Customers can also find it at the company’s online store, and in Target and Best Buy retail locations.
To use the band, iPhone owners have to download the “Up” by Jawbone application that is available free in the App Store.
The bracelet will come in three different sizes and seven different colors, including dark black, dark brown, dark red, bright white, bright silver, bright red and bright blue.
The bracelet is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and other iOS devices, including the iPad and iPod Touch.
As far as software, the device must have iOS 4.1 and greater. Apple’s newest update, iOS 5, is currently available as a free upgrade for all of those devices.
