iPhone 5 Release Date: Sprint Gets Exclusive Access to iPhone 5, Verizon and AT&T Get 4S?
The latest rumors regarding the release of the new iPhone, has insiders wondering if Apple is going to debut the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S. Sources connected to BGR.com state that both versions would be released to different carriers.
The insider states that Sprint will get the iPhone 5 this month exclusively with the deal they made with Apple earlier this year to sell the phone.
Verizon and AT&T is said to receive the iPhone 4S. This comes as a shock to many because of the special relationship Apple and AT&T have since the carrier launched the phone four years ago.
Features of the iPhone 5 is set to have a faster CPU, larger 4-inch screen, 1GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. It’s also expected that the iPhone 5 will run on Sprint’s exclusive 4G Network.
On the other side, the iPhone 4S is expected to debut on Verizon and AT&T. It’s set to feature most of the same specs as the original iPhone 4, but with added extras including; a low voltage Apple A5 CPU, an eight megapixel camera, and a metal premium backing.
The rumor is coming off the heels of a Wall Street Journal report that states Sprint guarantees Apple that they will purchase over 30.9 million iPhones over the next four years. This equated to around $20 million.
Although, Sprint is supposedly launching the iPhone 5 first, Verizon and AT&T customers shouldn’t necessarily jump providers. It’s also believed that Apple will launch the iPhone 5 for those carriers in early 2012. That version of the iPhone 5 is set to run on the 4G LTE network.
