iPod Touch 5 Receives Amazon Instant Video
iPod Touch 5 users now have the ability to access Amazon Instant Video on their devices. The app is also now available on the iPhone 5.
Users of both of these Apple devices can watch free Amazon Prime videos as Amazon updated its Instant Video App earlier this week to support smaller screens.
It also lets users watch any of their Amazon collection of paid videos, allows them to buy videos, and store for offline viewing as well. This is great for Amazon, who is likely to profit off of this during this year's holiday shopping season.
Amazon Prime members have unlimited access to over 30,000 Prime Instant Videos at no additional cost.
Both the iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th generation were released in the fall of this year.
The new iPod Touch comes in two different memory capacities, 32GB and 64GB. The latter of these models will cost $399.
The media device features a thinner 6.1mm frame and a 4-inch display, making it the same size as the iPhone 5. It comes with the A5 chip found in the iPhone 4 and is supposed to be seven times faster than previous models. Users should be able to play 40 hours of music and 8 hours of video straight on its battery power.
It also features a 5-megapixel rear camera and a strap, making photography more appealing on the device. It can record video in 1080p and FaceTime in 720p. It can also take panoramic photos. The headphone jack has been moved to the bottom left on the new iPod and it comes with the redesigned Ear Pod headphones Apple debuted at its iPhone 5 event.
The iPhone 5 features the same design in terms of frame and screen size and is the first LTE smartphone to be released by Apple.
