Is Tom Cruise's Son Trying to Escape Scientology to Embrace Christianity?
Tom Cruise's son, Connor, is possibly trying to break free from the cult clutches of Scientology and is now wearing Christian symbols in an apparent attempt to rebel against his father and maybe even convert to Christianity.
An article in In Touch says the 16-year-old son of Cruise and Nicole Kidman has led a difficult life devoid of love from his superstar parents and is currently “rebelling” against his father and Scientology.
“He’s starting to rebel against his father and the other components in their life, maybe even Scientology,” a source told the magazine. Connor has also been seen wearing crosses and recently showed up on the red carpet of an event wearing a large Jesus head pendant prominently around his neck.
“Connor is at a crossroads in his life. He’s been pushing for more freedom - he wants to drive a car and date whomever he chooses,” the source told In Touch.
Connor might also be converting to Christianity. However, it is still unknown for sure if he wants to dump Scientology for Jesus, but if he does, his movie star father might cut all ties with him, in a practice called “disconnecting,” according to Ex-Scientology Kids (ESK), a website about people who grew up in Scientology households but later left the “Church.”
According to ESK, “Disconnection is a Scientology practice of cutting all ties and all communication with someone who is declared a Suppressive Person (evil) by the Church of Scientology. This may include family, friends, loved ones, work associates, acquaintances, or anyone else found Suppressive by the Church.”
“Disconnection is a very touchy topic among Scientologists and critics both,” the website says. “Scientologists believe that Disconnection is generally a necessary action that, when undertaken, benefits the group as a whole. Critics believe this is an extremely harmful practice akin to emotional blackmail that destroys families and interpersonal relationships.”
According to a gossip website, Connor is current attending a Scientology high school in rural Oregon that teaches methods created by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology.
