Jamie Foxx Debuts Electro Costume for 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'
Jamie Foxx recently appeared in photographs as his latest character, the villainous Electro from "The Amazing Spider Man 2."
Foxx, the 45-year-old actor, comedian and musician, was almost unrecognizable with a silver and blue-tinted skin tone and an eye color to match. The actor appeared in photographs that were shot in New York City's Times Square, according to The Los Angeles Times.
His costume debut included blue makeup and prosthetics, along with an LED-lined black wardrobe, the publication reported. Foxx took to Twitter after numerous publications premiered him in full Electro garb.
"How ya like me now," Foxx questioned while re-tweeting headlines about his villainous costume on Twitter. "Lookout!"
The actor's costume looked nothing like the green and yellow Electro that appeared in the 1964 Spider-Man comics. Foxx spoke about his character utilizing new technology to bring the villain to life in a new way.
"They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won't be green and yellow," he told BlackFilm.com last December. "They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happen. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff."
Marc Webb, "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequel's director, spoke about Foxx at a press conference last year.
"I think Jamie Foxx is electrifying! I think Jamie Foxx is one of the best actors around today," Webb said of Foxx when asked about the possibility of him appearing in the next Spider-Man film, according to previous ComingSoon.net reports. "He's such a great character actor and he's a really brilliant guy."
Webb also dropped another hint about the supervillain Electro from the Spider-Man comic series, whose real name is Maxwell Dillon.
"I like Electro," Webb said when asked about his favorite Spider-Man characters, according to ComingSoon.net. "I'm fascinated by Norman Osborn and the different inflections of him. And Harry. Mary Jane and Gwen are always interesting to me."
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is slated for a tentative May 2014 release.
