Jennie Garth Reveals 'Rebirth' After Divorce
Former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star Jennie Garth has had a rollercoaster year with a very public divorce from Peter Facinelli after 11 years of marriage. Now, though, the actress is back with a new attitude, mindset and is speaking out about her "rebirth."
"I spent a couple of years lying in bed and being depressed. Physically, I didn't look my best, and mentally I didn't feel my best. I was doing everything I could to be a good mom, but that was all I could handle," Garth told People magazine. This year "has been a bit of a rebirth for me as a person by shedding that negative space and all the pain associated with that time."
She then decided to get off the couch and start moving towards a better place. Garth hired a personal trainer and began looking inward in order to move from a crippling depression to where she is now.
"I just looked at it like there's now way I can hide out in the country and never work again, never love again, and never laugh again. I have a strong constitution. I have a lot of inner calm about stuff right now," Garth explained.
Garth has also been able to rely upon good friends and her own children. She recently decided to get back into acting and appeared in popular Old Navy commercials with the rest of the "90210" cast. Now she appears on the cover of People magazine, debuting her new look and attitude.
At the time of their separation, in March, the couple said they "decided to end [their] marriage. We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time," they said in a joint statement.
Yet just a few days later, Garth told People she felt the rug had been pulled out from under her. "I have no landscape of what my future will look like, where before I had something that I can count on."
Garth's landscape now looks ripe with possibility and hope after a year in the desert.
