Joe Jonas Solo Album 'Fastlife' a Slow Sell

Joe Jonas debut solo album has only sold 18,000 copies in its first week, and for the first time he is tasting slight failure.

His album Fastlife, is No. 15 on the Billboard 200, but the mediocre sales rank far behind everything he's done with his brothers. The best selling Jonas Brothers' album sold 525,000 copies in its first week in 2008.

Joe's brother Nick released an album, Who I Am, with his band Nick Jonas & the Administration in 2010 that debuted at No. 3 and sold 82,000 copies in its first week.

Joe talked about how he needed to make this record for him in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine.

"About a year and a half ago I sat down with my brothers and said, 'Listen, guys, I want to create something a little bit different than what we’ve been doing. The music I like, it’s just very kind of urban, hip-hop, dance stuff, electronic stuff,” he said.

Most importantly, Jonas speaks about needing a record that shows his various styles and was personal toward his life.

"'I’m Sorry' was the number one song that was really a lot to put on the table. It was a really personal song about something I was going through in a relationship," he told Rolling Stone. "To put it all out there and just be that vulnerable is not always easy, but I was really happy with the outcome."

Jonas also reflected on his excitement about touring with Britney Spears and Jojo saying of Britney, “Britney is an incredible artist and she’s been doing it for so long now, to be able to get on the road with her will be a lot of fun.”

The first single for the album, “See No More,” was released in late July with the second single being “Just in Love With You.”
