Johnny Depp Engaged to Amber Heard: 'She Turned Him Down Before'?
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are now engaged. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star started dating Heard after they met on the set of "Rum Diaries," and have been spotted all over the world ever since.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's engagement has not been officially confirmed by the celebrity couple because they work hard to maintain their privacy, but nevertheless, various media outlets have reported on the affair after seeing her large ring Jan. 11. Depp apparently proposed some time ago, and Heard didn't immediately say yes.
"The proposal happened a while ago," an insider told Us Weekly. "She just didn't wear the ring."
"It happened on Christmas Eve," a source revealed to Celebuzz. "Amber really took time to make up her mind."
Apparently her hesitation had to do with her past relationship with photographer Tasya van Ree and the fact that this wasn't Depp's first time asking for her hand in marriage.
"She turned him down before she said yes," the insider explained. "So she waited and was thinking about it for a long time."
Despite the difference in age- Depp is 50 while Heard is only 27- the two hit it off on the set of "Rum Diaries." In 2012, Depp broke off his relationship with Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two children, and moved on to Heard.
Depp and Heard have often been seen traveling in popular places like Moscow and Japan, which is where they took Depp's two children Lily-Rose, 14 and Jack, 11, this past summer.
Later in 2014 the Hollywood couple will appear together once again in "London Fields," a crime thriller.
