Journey Band Member Arrested for Domestic Assault
Journey's drummer, Deen Castronovo, was arrested for a domestic violence dispute involving his girlfriend on Saturday.
The Journey drummer, who has toured and played for numerous bands, was arrested after he got into a heated argument with his girlfriend that became violent, according to TMZ.
Oregon police arrived at the scene, and Castronovo was arrested and booked in Polk County jail for coercion, 4th-degree assault, 2nd-degree criminal mischief, interfering with making a report, and harassment.
During their argument, Castronovo allegedly prevented his girlfriend from using her phone to call her father. This could be the catalyst that sparked the domestic abuse, and led to the drummer's 4th-degree assault charge.
After catching the woman, who ran out of the Keizer, Oregon home to phone her dad for help, the Journey drummer wrestled her phone away. The police were eventually called.
It is unknown exactly what the 46-year-old did to the woman, however.
Once arrested, Castronovo, who joined Journey in 1998, posted his own bail for release- a whopping $52,000 fine. In the upcoming weeks, the drummer's charges will be investigated.
A representative for Castronovo is already attempting to quell the situation and rumors surrounding the incident.
"It was a misunderstanding that should not have been escalated to such a level in the first place," the rep told TMZ.
Outside of his personal life, Castronovo is a very successful, drumming and singing for Journey for 11 years. Before joining the rock band, he performed with notable acts like Hardline, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath and Bad English.
Journey is one of the most successful American rock bands of all time, selling over 80 million albums worldwide. They formed in 1973 in San Francisco, and- barring a hiatus- have enjoyed surprising longevity in the music industry and with fans.
Their popular song, "Don't Stop Believin'," is the top-selling catalog song in iTunes history.
