Justin Bieber's Mother Shocked About New Tattoo?

Justin Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, recently found out about her son's new "X" tattoo in the media the same way many of his fans did.

Mallette, 38, appeared on WLNY-TV's The Couch Wednesday morning where she expressed surprise concerning her son's new ink.

"See, sometimes I find out things like this … the same way as everyone else," she told WLNY-TV host Carolina Bermudez. "I saw that like seriously five minutes before I came on [The Couch]. I was looking at something and I said, 'Is that a new tattoo?'"

Bieber's newest tattoo made headlines on Tuesday after he was spotted with the new skin art as he was leaving a Cirque du Soleil show in London Monday night. Mallette has been promoting her film "Crescendo I" about the attempted abortion of Beethoven's mother recently, but she has also been vocal about raising her own pop superstar son.

While Bieber has also appeared in recent headlines for alleged substance abuse, his mother told "Today" that it isn't easy letting her son grow up.

"It's tough letting go and letting our kids make the mistakes that they need to make," she said on "Today" recently. "And I just have to trust that he's made good decisions in the past and hopefully he's learned from some of my mistakes."

Bieber recalled some of his mother's advice about making such mistakes when speaking to Billboard last month.

"I don't have any regrets. I live and I learn. My mom says, 'You got to learn the hard way, don't you?' That's me," Bieber told Billboard. "I learn the hard way. But it's about how I pick myself up and be better and stronger."

While Bieber has made headlines for his recent on-and-off again relationship with actress and singer Selena Gomez, Mallette has also been open about letting her son do what is best for him in his love life.

"You know, I just try and support whatever he's wanting and I think she's a sweetheart, and whatever they decide is great," Mallette said on "Today."
