Kardashian Baby Name Revealed? North West or Nori for Short (VIDEO)
After five long days, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter has a name: North West. The little girl, born five weeks early, is being called Nori for short.
Reports state that the "birth certificate is out," and that North has no middle name, making her name simply North West. But the family is reportedly calling her "Nori" as a nickname, Us Weekly reported.
"Everybody is doing great," the insider added. "The baby is so sweet. Kanye is in love. Kim's real due date was July 12 – Kanye's mom's birthday. That warmed his heart."
Since giving birth on June 15, speculation has run rampant about the baby girl's name.
One prevalent report stated that her name was actually Kaidence Donda West, in honor of West's late mother, Dr. Donda West. However, that was proven false.
"They're not quite ready to announce the name yet," a source close to the couple told Us Weekly yesterday. "But the name definitely does not start with a K, despite all the rumors that have been out."
Kardashian has bucked her family tradition of a "K" name and instead went with a unique name for her baby girl. Yet one may wonder how the name North is "sentimental" to the couple.
"[They've] chosen a name already and it's one that's sentimental to both of them," a source previously told HollywoodLife.com. "[The name is] something beautiful. They already settled on a name and soon everyone will know."
Fans and fellow celebrities have reacted with surprise to the baby's reported name.
"'North' is a fine name. North West. In either case, it's their baby," tweeted Gene Simmons.
"Make fun of Kim's name choice for North West if u want, but that baby is going straight to the top.. And slightly to the left," tweeted Jake Warrington.
Kardashian previously joked about naming her baby North or East during an appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.
