Kate and Pippa Middleton Dolls, Unflattering Portrayal of Royal Family

Hero Builders, a United States company, created doll replicas of British royalty Kate Middleton and her sister, Pippa Middleton.

The company created the dolls for the holiday season, describing the figurines as in “high demand” on the company website.

Many critics call the dolls unflattering due to their masculine physique, bronzed skin, and excessively white teeth.

“With their bolted joints and unladylike proportions, these grinning women look like they could have been created in Frankenstein's attic,” reported The Daily Mail.

The International Business Times argued the dolls’ “chunky, clunky nature strips them from their royal grace.”

The dolls echo the Royal Wedding mania that surrounded the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The couple married April 29 with a highly publicized wedding at Westminster Abbey in London.

The marriage sparked heightened public attention because it featured a member of the royal family marrying a commoner. The couple met in 2003 while attending university.

Kate is praised for her smart fashion sense. At the Child Bereavement Charity Gala in October, Middleton wore a stunning red dress designed by Beulah London.

She also incorporated diplomacy into her fashion. While visiting Ottawa, Canada in July, the duchess sported a dress by Canadian-born, London-based designer Erdem Moralioglu, thus honoring both countries.

The $189.95 Kate Middleton doll echoes Kate’s signature style by sporting a replica of her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen Wedding Dress.

The less expensive Pippa doll, with a price tag of $49.95, dons the elegant Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress she wore to her sister’s wedding.

Critics argue the dresses do a poor job covering the bolts and hinges of the cheaply made dolls.

The public expressed dismay that the Royal Family be portrayed in an ungraceful manner. Many see the Middleton sisters as ideal representations of femininity.

“Someone has made a doll of what Pippa Middleton would look like if she embarked on Jodie Marsh' body building regime,” tweeted Joe Stone to the International Business Times.
