Kate Gosselin and Kids Appear in New Special (PREVIEW VIDEO CLIP)
Kate Gosselin and her eight children are ready to be back on TLC in a two-part special about the changes in their lives since leaving their original series "Jon & Kate Plus 8."
The series is scheduled to air later this month, but Kate has apparently not changed her strict parenting style at all.
"We've been through a lot," Gosselin tells the cameras. "We've learned what's important and I'm getting older, tireder, more worn out. The kids are getting older and smarter and [are] giving me a run for my money daily and hourly and moment by moment."
Gosselin has been known to be strict with her children, especially eldest daughters Mady and Cara, 14. The three appeared on live public television, and things grew awkward when the girls refused to speak, freezing in front of the camera. Gosselin prompted her daughters to speak, gaining her the reputation of a "show mom" with some even claiming she was trying to use her children for publicity. However, she has explained her kids were simply nervous in front of the camera and froze.
Now, in the upcoming show, she is seen taking away the children's electronics as a form of punishment.
"I got those little girls cell phones and iPads so that I could take them away," Gosselin tells the cameras. "Yes, indeedy. And I've learned I'm not the only parent of teens who has discovered that little gem. Find their currency, and that is that."
The father of the girls, Jon, has publicly bashed Kate for appearing on the TV show and claiming she is "manipulating" the children for her own public gain.
In addition to having a TV series, Kate has written a book about her experience as a mother of eight children. She has also jokingly suggested that she would be willing to go on a reality competition.
The children include twins Mady and Cara, 14, as well as sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel, all 10. Dad Jon and Kate separated several years ago and have had a rocky relationship ever since. The kids spend time with both parents but are in the main guardianship of their mother.
