Kate Gosselin Interview: Twin Girls Fall Silent on Live TV
Kate Gosselin and her teenaged twin daughters displayed a typical mother-daughter relationship during a live televised interview on Wednesday.
The three "Kate Plus 8" stars appeared on the "Today" show to clear up speculation that the reality television series had an adverse affect on the eight Gosselin children when 13-year-olds Cara and Mady clammed up.
During the segment, "Today" host Savannah Guthrie directed questions toward the teen girls. Instead of responding, the pair remained awkwardly silent and looked to their mother.

"It's your chance, spit it out," Gosselin told her daughters on-air.
The interview arrives amidst widespread criticism that Kate is using her children for fame and fortune.
"This is the most wordless I've heard them all morning," she later noted. "I don't want to speak for them but, Mady, go ahead. Sort of the things that you said in [People] magazine, that years later they're good, they're fine. Go for it, it's your chance."
"No," Mady replied. "You just said it."
Gosselin set out to dispel "inaccuracies" surrounding her children, even shedding light on how the negative press impacts them at home.
"They get really frustrated that people assume certain things in our house and they always say, 'But that's not how it is, mommy, why do they say that about us,'" Gosselin explained of her large brood to Today.com.
"They're just really regular every day, awesome teenagers," she added.
Meanwhile Kate's ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, remains passionately opposed to his children's careers in reality television. The patriarch went as far as referencing the "development" of his children while accusing his ex of exploiting the kids.
Nevertheless, Kate chalked up her girls' silence on air to being television shy.
"Thank yo @TODAYshow for having Cara, Mady and me on the show today," she wrote on Twitter. "1st live interview can render even the gabbiest girls speechless."
Last week, Gaby and Mady actually did speak up, offering insight to their life post TLC's "Kate Plus 8."
"People expect us to be damaged," said Cara, according to People.com.
"They think we're supposed to be so messed up, like, 'ooh, the poor Gosselin kids, they're going to be scarred for life, waaaah," Mady added.
"It's so false, we're fine," Cara chimed in . "We're better than ever, actually."
