Kate Middleton Baby: Hospital Where Royal Baby Was Born Was Luxurious
With a global audience anticipating the royal birth, a great deal has been said of how the new addition will be treated like royalty, but new details have emerged detailing the renovated hospital room where Kate Middleton gave birth.
The Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital has been the site of much commotion in recent weeks as global media outlets staked their claim in front of the hospital in anticipation of Middleton's arrival.
The Duchess checked into the Paddington, London facility early Monday morning and gave birth in the same location that her late mother-in-law Princess Diana delivered Princes William and Harry.
Other royals such as Prince Charles' sister, Princess Anne, also gave birth to children Peter and Zara Phillips inside Lindo as well as several other British royals.
The Lindo Wing is said to be a reflection of royal births after being renovated last year. The hospital claims to provide the "highest quality of care" for all pregnancies and the hospital wing features private birthing rooms, including a birthing pool. Every room in the wing features satellite TV, radio and internet access as well as daily newspaper deliveries with costs reportedly of several thousands of dollars a day, according to Us Weekly.
The couple's baby boy will is third-in-line to the throne, ultimately displacing William's younger brother, Prince Harry, who will become fourth-in-line to succession.
As Middleton went into labor, Queen Elizabeth II received the news while in Windsor Castle while Prince Charles was told while in York.
The Queen expressed her anxiousness for the royal birth on Wednesday particularly because she is preparing to go on vacation in coming days.
"I would very much like [the baby] to arrive because I'm going on holiday soon ... I wish it would hurry up," the Queen said during a trip to Lake Windermere in Cumbria.
