Kate Middleton Makes First Appearance Since Australian Tour, Looks Happy in Scotland Despite Photo Controversy

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge made her first public appearance since April's visit to Australia this week in Scotland alongside Prince William.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's' appearance arrives just days after a German publication drew ire by posting a photo of Middleton's bare bottom after wind had blown up her skirt in Australia. While reports suggested that Prince William and the royal family were "furious" over the photo, the Duke and Duchess appeared in high spirits along their visit to the Strathearn Community Campus in Crieff, Scotland on Thursday, according to the Daily Mail.

The royal couple had taken a three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia last month, but have since returned to the U.K. and resumed their royal duties, including Thursday's visit. According to a recent report, fans of the royal family can look forward to many more engagements since the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Prince Harry have taken on an "upsurge" in appearances.

"We have got a really busy program actually for both of them and Prince Harry," an aide to the royals revealed to People.com. "There will be a significant upsurge in engagements."

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is reportedly considering taking action against the German tabloid that published the photo of Kate's bare bottom after a gust of wind caught her skirt while she had her backed turned to photographers last month. First the German tabloid Bild printed the photo, and now Rupert Murdoch has purchased the photo to print in his Sydney Daily Telegraph. The unfortunate photo follows images of Middleton topless while on a private vacation that were taken with a long-lens camera without her knowledge last year.

"Kate realizes she has a very public life," a source close to the 31-year-old royal told Daily Star. "But she does believe she's entitled to a certain amount of privacy. She doesn't expect to see her naked [bottom] splashed across a German tabloid. She's furious. She and Prince William are once again considering their legal options."

A spokesperson for Clarence House said, "It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them."
