Duchess Kate Visits Olympic Park, Scores Goal

Formerly Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge has played field hockey while she visited the British Olympic women's team at Olympic Park Thursday, and even scored a goal.

The Duchess, who was a high school field hockey team captain, appeared slender and athletic in cropped coral jeans, sneakers, and a sweat shirt.

"This is going to be so embarrassing," said the Duchess ahead of the morale-boosting team visit ahead of the Summer London Games.

"My brain thinks I can do all these wonderful things but my body just doesn't play ball," the 30-year-old added.

After three attempts to score, Kate finally took another swing and scored a goal, reported People magazine.

"Wow, that was no pressure then," the Duchess said. "I was determined to keep on going until I scored."

Kate Walsh, Olympic team captain, said she was impressed with the Duchess' athleticism.

"She told me that she missed playing as part of a team," said Walsh, according to ESPN. "She also told me that she used to hit the penalty corners and you could see that. She got low and her shots were really sweet."

Later the same day, Kate joined her father-in-law, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall as they visited the Dulwich Picture Gallery in south London.

The official engagement was arranged as a result of Kate and Charles' mutual interest in art, according to a Clarence House representative.

The visit allowed the royal party to view the work carried out by the Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts at Dulwich, and arrived "following a conversation between father-in-law and daughter-in-law," confirmed the rep.

"The have a shared interest in art, art therapy, and children," added the rep.

The Duchess of Cambridge studied art history at St. Andrew's University. Her outing with Charles was their first to one of his charities. Kate's husband of almost one year, Prince William, is wrapping up his tour with the RAF in the Falkland Islands.

Kate recently divulged that she misses the Duke of Cambridge "terribly," reported the New York Post.

"I've got a dog that's keeping me occupied," Kate added. "I'm getting a lot of 'me time' with the dog."

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge share a cocker spaniel named Lupo, which means "wolf" in Latin.
