Kate Winslet Titanic Embarrassment: Actress Comments on 'Awful' Performance (VIDEO)

Kate Winslet has finally made the premiere of the "Titanic" after missing the boat twice before. However instead of raving about her past success, the actress has suggested that she is not proud of her Titanic performance.

Titanic has set sail once again, this time debuting in 3-D. The movie's premiere occurred Tuesday night, with Winslet finally stepping on board after having missing the film's two original premieres.

The movie's original premiere first took place in 1997. Winslet was unable to make the world premiere at Mann's Chinese Theatre after she discovered that her ex-boyfriend had died from cancer. Again, when the film debuted in the U.K. shortly after, Winslet could not attend because she was suffering from dysentery that she picked up while filming in Morocco.

Tuesday however, Winslet appeared at her first premiere for the Titanic in good health. When asked by MTV what if felt like to see the film revived in 3-D, Winslet proclaimed that she was taken back.

"It feels amazing," Winslet said. "I mean, it is a very strange experience because it's a long time since I've seen the film in its entirety."

Despite admiring the film's greatness, Winslet was critical of her 21-year-old self, remarking that her acting skills were not what they should have been. "Every single scene, I'm like 'Really, really? You did it like that? Oh my God,'" she commented to CNN.

"Even my American accent, I can't listen to it. It's awful. Hopefully it's so much better now. It sounds terribly self indulgent but actors do tend to be very self-critical. I have a hard time watching any of my performances, but watching Titanic I was just like 'Oh God, I want to do that again.'"

The actress made similar comments to MTV. "My American accent could've been much better. My acting could've been a lot better," she confessed.

Winslet in fact, appreciates her entire self better now than then, although she admitted that she would be diving out when the nude scene came on. "I'm not going to look, I'll be in the bar by that point. Or on the floor," the actress remarked.

However those comments do not reflect Winslet's lack of self-esteem. "I think I look nicer now," she said. "I prefer myself as a 36-year-old. It's really weird 'cause when you're 21 you think, 'Oh God, when I'm 36, oh God, that's nearly 40 and I'll look really old and wrinkly by then.' And actually I quite like the way I look. I feel OK about myself these days."
