Katherine Heigl TV Return: Actress to Produce and Star in Show
Former "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl could return be returning to television for a new television series.
Heigl starred in Grey's from its start in March 2005 until midway through the show's sixth season, in January 2010 in the role of Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens. In 2007, Heigl was honored with a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the role. During that time she also stared in a number of films including "27 Dresses", "Knocked Up", and "The Ugly Truth."
The actress announced that she would take a break from "Grey's Anatomy" in 2010 to spend more time with her recently adopted daughters. Heigl has two adopted daughters with husband Josh Kelley. Her first daughter was adopted from South Korea in September of 2011. Later that month she adopted a second daughter, Naleigh, who has special needs.

Heigl said at the beginning of last year that she had expressed interested in returning to "Grey's Anatomy" but that the show writers appeared to busy to fit her character back in.
"I've told them I want to," Heigl told E! News. "I don't know... Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that I mean she's got how many characters are there now? There's a lot and so she's balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don't know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes."
Heigl is expected to star in and produce the new television series, which is being written by Alexi Hawley according to USA today. The actress is in talks with NBC as well as a few other stations about the new show. Thus far, the show has not been titled.
