Katy Perry and Russell Brand Divorce Finalized: I'm 'Happy Again,' Says Perry

The divorce between Russell Brand and Katy Perry was finalized on Monday, seven months after the announcement of their split.

Married for 14 months, Brand set the divorce in motion last December, citing "irreconcilable differences."

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," Brand announce in a statement at the time, according to the Associated Press. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

According to sources close to the former couple, Brand wanted out of the marriage because he wanted to start a family while Perry wanted to wait longer, according to Us Weekly.

"[Russell] feels there's no point in being married if you don't have kids," said the insider, who noted that the 37-year-old actor was "ready to move on."

Although he was entitled to half of Perry's earnings since they did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement, Brand requested no money from his former wife, and reportedly gave her rights to the $6.5 million home they bought while married.

After the initial announcement, Perry took to Twitter stating that she was "happy again."

"I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world," wrote the singer. "You guys have made my heart happy again."

Moreover, her concert documentary "Katy Perry: Part of Me," the 27-year-old singer revealed the deterioration of her marriage.

"I'm a romantic and I believe in the whole fairy tale," said Perry. "Love is a dream but the reality is making it work. I did everything I could, but it still failed."

In May, Brand appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres" show where he revealed his remaining fondness for the "California Gurlz" singer.

"I still love her as a human being," said the "Get Him to the Greek" star. "But, sometimes when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything."
