Katy Perry, John Mayer Getting Serious, Spotted on Family Outing

Katy Perry and John Mayer have been spotted in New York City on Wednesday with Mayer's father Richard in tow.

While rumors about their relationship arose over the summer, the presence of Mayer's father indicates that the singers are getting more serious.

Meeting the parents is a meaningful milestone in every relationship. Wednesday saw Perry and Mayer treating his father to dinner at Sardi's restaurant before heading to the Broadway show "A Christmas Story."

The family outing seems to confirm that Mayer, 35, is committed to Perry, 28.

Perry appeared fresh-faced in a floral knitted dress coat paired with blue high-heels. Mayer looked more relaxed in a blazer and khakis.

Later during the night, the pair posed with some of the Broadway show's cast members, and Perry even posed with Santa Claus.

Although Perry appeared happy beside Mayer, many fans have voiced concern over the "Part of Me" singer, who was reportedly heartbroken after her divorce from Russell Brand.

"Katy's friends and family haven't taken to John at all, in fact they are worried that she is headed for heart break," said an insider speaking to RadarOnline. "She's been telling everybody who cares to listen how great John is and it's clear that she is totally in love with him."

Despite long-standing rumors of their romance, Perry and Mayer's relationship had a rocky on-again, off-again start.

Now that the relationship has gained steam, Perry is "dangerously in love," the insider continued.

"Now that she has invested more feelings in John and has let her guard down, there's only one way this can end … in disaster," the source predicted, according to RadarOnline.

Mayer has been romantically linked to several women in the past, including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, and Jessica Simpson.
