Katy Perry: Hollywood Reporter Interview Reveals New Record Label
Katy Perry has announced that she will be launching her very own yet-to-be-named record label that strictly follows the Golden Rule.
"I'm preparing for it now," the 27-year-old star told The Hollywood Reporter. "And when this record label does come to fruition, I'm going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success."
Perhaps it is the "California Gurlz" singer's Christian roots that inspired her to seek her own label, as she cited the Golden Rule while explaining her quest.

"As people are coming to me with opportunities, I'm thinking, 'How would I want to be treated,'" added Perry, according to THR.
Perry is also preparing to release her 3-D concert documentary, "Katy Perry: Part of Me." She has seen 11 number-one singles and has sold million of albums, and despite her recent divorce from Russell Brand, Perry's career continues to flourish.
The busy star did not say what the name of the record company would be, but it will likely be under EMI/Capitol, the same label she is signed to.
Opening up about her divorce, Perry revealed that she harbors no regrets about her marriage to Brand while speaking to THR.
"I still believe in love and marriage," said the singer. "I've just learned lessons along the way. I regret nothing."
"Katy Perry: Part of Me" hits theaters on the Fourth of July and includes an inside look at the deterioration of her relationship with the British actor.
Also this week, Perry debuted the music video for her song "Wide Awake."
The break-up anthem includes lyrics that Perry described as "a dose of reality," reported MTV News.
"It's kind of like coming down from a high," said Perry in a video posted on MTV's site Monday. "You've been on cloud nine for so long, and it can't always be so sweet and sometimes you need to realize that, and you have to pick yourself up and move forward and face the facts of life and know that this is just a lesson you learn and you're stronger because of it."
