Katy Perry Admits Struggle: 'Celebrities Aren't Perfect'

After a chaotic past year, Katy Perry has opened up about her personal life and admitted that celebrities are not perfect.

While experiencing a career high, Katy Perry has also endured intense struggles in the past year. Her high-profile divorce from actor Russell Brand, which will not be finalized until July, forced the singer to publicly cope with moving on.

Perry appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week to discuss her new 3-D documentary, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," which highlights the singer's past year.

After noting her that it was "important" to include her personal highs and lows, Perry said the film reveals her true side.

"I think sometimes people think that we're perfect, and we know we're not perfect, at all," said the 27-year-old. "I think it's important [to] start breaking down the idea that, to achieve your dream, you always have to be perfect, or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world."

Although Perry swept the music industry, she admitted that that road was often "bumpy."

"That's why I decided to put everything in the film in the most tasteful way," said the "California Gurlz" singer.

Perry has seen six no. 1 hits off her "Teenage Dream" album. Her road to success was a long one, but the singer concluded with, "It's kinda worked out."

"Yeah kind of," replied DeGeneres.

Just recently, Perry's ex Brand also spoke to DeGeneres, explaining that he still loves Perry.

"I still love [Katy] as a human being," said the 36-year-old comedian. "But, sometimes, when you're in a relationship I suppose it doesn't work out, does it? But that doesn't mean I regret it or anything."

Additionally, the "Get Him to the Greek Star" posted a message on Twitter last week.

"I was very happy to be married to [Katy]," wrote Brand. "She's such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her."

"Katy Perry: Part of Me" hits theaters on the Fourth of July.
