Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries Divorce: Humphries to Lose a Lot More Than Kim
The rumors of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries getting divorced are true, and it appears Kris has a lot more to lose than Kim.
TMZ reports the former couple had a prenuptial agreement set in place that keeps all assets separate with neither owing anything to each other.
Humphries could be in for a rough year because of the NBA lockout and his unemployment. He made $3.2 million with the Nets, but spent a reported $2 million on Kim's engagement ring.
Under California law, the giver of the ring loses all rights to the ring once the recipient says "I do."
In comparison the Kardashian collective made $65 million.
Sources told TMZ Kim was struggling over making the decision to divorce. They also reported she spent the entire week crying before she filed the documents, changing her mind several times over because she wasn't 100 percent sure the marriage couldn't be salvaged.
One of Kim's friends told the gossip site she finalized the decision after learning Kris hired a Hollywood publicist to work on his image, angrily saying, "He's not in (expletive) Hollywood. He plays sports."
Humphries told reporters he was willing to do whatever it takes to repair his broken marriage. "I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents," he said.
He continued, "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce...I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
Friend's of Kim told TMZ they think Kris is lying when he said all he wanted was a nice life with her in Minnesota, and that now the marriage is over he's "chasing fame."
They say Kim was put off by Kris' persistence to keep their connection going even if they divorced. Kris wanted to brand his name, and try to get deals for cologne, nightclub appearances, and other merchandise.
The divorce was made official yesterday with TMZ breaking the story. Once of the main reasons was Kris wanting to live in Minnesota with Kim.
Kardashian did not want to leave Hollywood because of her career, spelling the end of their marriage.
