Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reportedly named their daughter North West and a new report claims to have uncovered the meaning behind the unique moniker.
On June 15 Kardashian, 32, gave birth to her and West's first child and fans anxiously awaited details on the newborn. On June 19, TMZ.com appeared to have obtained a copy of the baby's birth certificate which states her name is in fact North, and a source recently explained why the reality TV star and the "New Slaves" rapper chose the name.
"What's North of North? Nothing," a source told TMZ while revealing that the couple sees their daughter's name as a metaphor for "up."

The Hollywood stars are yet to publicly confirm the baby name, but reports maintain that the birth certificate is legittimate. Kardashian and West are believed to have put a lot of thought into the name, with a source revealing that the moniker is "sentimental" to both of them.
"[They've] chosen a name already and it's one that's sentimental to both of them," a source previously told HollywoodLife.com. "[The name is] something beautiful. They already settled on a name and soon everyone will know."
Kardashian went into labor five weeks ahead of her due date and the baby weighed in an just under five pounds. Both mother and daughter reportedly left Cedars Sinai hospital in Beverly Hills after one week and Kardashian admitted that motherhood is "crazy" in an exclusive statement given to E! producer Ryan Seacrest.
"Can't believe it! It's so crazy!" Kardashian allegedly told Seacrest in an email.
As fans continue to wait for the first glimpse of Kardashian and West's baby, sources suggest that it could be a while before the newborn is seen publicly as the rapper is insisting that his family has privacy. While previous reports alluded to a potential sale of first baby photos, a source claims this will never happen.
"I know Kanye's not about to make money off that girl. Trust, that's not going to happen. Kanye isn't no pimp ... That's not in his character," a source said.
"Whenever he does decide to bring his girl out in public, it won't be for money. It's going to be on his terms and in an appropriate place," the source added.
