Kim Kardashian Dropped for Dog in Skechers Super Bowl Ad
The Kardashian brand has taken another hit as Skechers has replaced Kim Kardashian with a dog to promote its new line of sneakers during a Super Bowl commercial.
The sultry diva will be replaced by a French Bulldog to model sneakers. Skechers, however, insists that they didn't "drop" or "replace" Kardashian in the ad, according to People Magazine.
Skechers CEO Robert Greenberg said that Kim's contract simply came to an end last year, but the two parties maintain a great relationship.
"To say that she was 'dropped' or 'replaced' is misleading and untrue," Greenberg said. "Skechers has enjoyed and continues to enjoy the relationship with Kim, and in fact we continue to discuss ways that we may work together in the future.”
Kardashian's contract with Skechers did expire at the end of 2011, but President of Skechers Fitness Leonard Armato claims that her ad during the 2011 Super Bowl boosted the sneaker company's popularity.
He said that, due to Kardashian, Skechers Facebook page has jumped from 100,000 to 400,000 fans since last year's Super Bowl commercial.
Mark Cuban will also be featured in the ad. He admits that he lacks the sex-appeal that Kardashian offered, but boasted about his tech-savviness.
"I'm not Kim Kardashian, but one of the things I do know is high technology and how to use it," Cuban said.
This year's ad will feature a high-tech line of sneakers called "GoRun", which will be worn by the bulldog. The dog, wearing the sneakers, will be racing a group of greyhounds.
