Kim Kardashian Drug Addiction Story Slammed; Star Suing Tabloid for Lies
Kim Kardashian is reportedly plotting to sue an Australian tabloid magazine for publishing a story which suggests that she has a dangerous drug habit.
The reality TV personality is said to be furious after learning that NW Magazine ran a story which accuses Kardashian of having a dangerous addiction to prescription medication, and her attorneys are likely to enforce legal action in a bid to stop the alleged rumors, according to TMZ.
"[Kim's] freaking everyone out right now. She's taking Valium and sleeping pills. The last time she self-medicated was when she split from Reggie Bush [two years ago,] when everything felt impossible," an anonymous source told Australia's NW magazine.
"It started with just a little bit to take the edge off or help her sleep, but she could become dependent upon pills, which worries her. I think she's secretly pleased Khloé found out because she'd have struggled to stop on her own," the unnamed source added.
Kardashian has reportedly denied that she has a drug problem and insists that she rarely even drinks alcohol.
The 31-year-old, who rose to fame in 2007 following the release of her sex tape with singer Ray J, has received widespread media backlash since filing for divorce from estranged husband Kris Humphries in October after just 72 days of marriage.
Reports that the pair's lavish nuptials may have been staged for financial gain began swirling soon after Kardashian filed from divorce from the NBA star, according to Radar Online.
The abrupt divorce filing prompted fans to begin boycotting Kardashian, and some critics suspect that the backlash may have taken a toll on her, further fueling rumors that she may have turned to prescription drugs to cope with the criticism.
Kardashian is now said to be in the process of altering her image and boyfriend Kanye West has suggested that she change to appear more like the widely praised Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, according to the Daily Star.
"Kate Middleton has influenced [Kim's] look while in London. Kate's amazing. We watched her wedding and we thought it was beautiful. Kim's style icon is Sophia Loren," Kardashian's make-up artist Rob Scheppy told the Daily Star.
"Kanye does like to get involved with Kim's look. He actually has a lot of input, he has amazing style so we take his opinions to heart and I say: 'OK, I'll try it,'" he added.
