Kim Kardashian Selling Items To Help Philippines
Kim Kardashian is doing her part to help the victims struck by typhoon Haiyan that struck the Philippines earlier this month.
Kardashian, the 33-year-old "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star and fashionista, took to her Celeb Buzz blog to announce that she would be auctioning off items on eBay to donate a portion of the earnings to help the medical staff in the country.
"Hi guys, this is a very special auction because a portion of the proceeds of my eBay auction are going to International Medical Corps, which is a nonprofit organization that provides critical health services on remote islands where families are struggling to access medical care and basic resources like food, clean drinking water and vital medications," Kardashian wrote on her website. "The proceeds will go directly to the communities they're serving in the Philippines and will help typhoon survivors get access to medical care and ultimately save lives. My prayers and thoughts are with those affected by the typhoon."
Kardashian is no stranger to participating in charitable acts. She and her fiance rap mogul Kanye West, were lauded by Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago after requesting donations for the facility instead of gifts for their first child.
The pair did not register for any baby gifts in order to encourage others to donate to the Chicago children's hospital, according to Us Weekly reports.
"Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West for their thoughtfulness and support of the hospital," a representative from the hospital told TMZ. "Funds donated on behalf of Kardashian and West will be directed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Fund which will help care for the most critically ill babies and their families. We wish them all the best in the upcoming arrival of their baby."
Earlier this year, Kardashian worked to sell some items on eBay that she donated to Life Change Community Church. The reality television star also left a message on her eBay store website to let other people know that they could follow in her footsteps and donate proceeds from their individual eBay stores to charity.
"A percentage of the proceeds from this and all my auctions always benefits charity. A portion of the sale from these auctions support Life Change Community Church," she wrote on the Kim's Closet Clothing Store eBay website. "And in case you didn't know, anytime you sell something on eBay, you can donate a percentage of your proceeds to charity. Learn more at eBay Giving Works."
