Kindergartner Brings Mom’s Crack Pipe and Meth to School

A kindergartner at Sweet Spring Elementary school in Missouri took his mother’s crack-pipe and methamphetamine to show-and-tell.

According to local news broadcaster, KCTV 5 News, school administrators contacted police when the young boy removed the items from his backpack in the school’s hallway.

Administrators weren’t the only ones shocked. Police Chief Richard Downing was also stunned by a child bringing the drug to the school event and went on to tell KCTV 5 News, “When I called the prosecutor about it, they said, 'You're kidding me, aren't you?”

On September 6th, the kindergartner’s mother, Michelle Marie Cheatham was charged with possession of a controlled substance and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Unofficial documents show Cheatham posted a cash bond of $7,500 in full and was also ordered to submit to drug testing. The defendant is due back in court on September 28.

KCTV 5 News also reported neighbors were surprised with one resident expressing, "That kind of makes you wonder why parents would leave something like that out for a child to get a hold of."
