Lady Gaga Forbes Million Dollar Lady
According to the latest edition of Forbes magazine, Lady Gaga is the top earning woman in music, surpassing the totals earned by Taylor Swift and Kate Perry combined.
Fueled by a frequently sold-out world tour, top selling albums, and endorsements Gaga earned a total gross income of $90 million in 2011. Taylor Swift at $45 million and Kate Perry at $44 million were the next runners up.
Forbes also pointed to a possible pay gap between the earning of male and female artists, however the top paid male artist was Elton John, at $100 million a year, which could be explained by his long lasting success. Lady Gaga also lent her voice to an original duet with Elton John for the feature film Gnomeo & Juliet titled “Hello, Hello”.
These figures however, still don’t compete with top-paid actors like Daniel Radcliffe, who earned $1.3 billion and Shia LaBeouf with $1.1 billion.
Lady Gaga, named Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta at birth, has frequently experimented with her music and style since her claim to fame in 2008 with her album titled Fame. She described her first album to the public as an exploration of her obsession with fame and the intricacies of a rich and famous lifestyle
Other female artists who made the 10 ten list are Beyonce, Rihanna, Pink, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, and Britney Spears, who tied with Alicia Keys at $10 million for the No. 10 spot.
