Last Chance to See 'Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas' Today, Actor Offers Christmas Prayer
"Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas" is concluding its month-long run in theaters on Monday, leaving moviegoers with one last chance to see the film today.
On its last day in theaters, "Saving Christmas" is being featured in a special one-night-only final showing in many of its original theaters at 7:30 p.m. in most locations. These locations include over 200 of the original theaters, plus 30 additional theaters. To find out where the film is playing near you, visit the "Saving Christmas" website here.
The "Fireproof" star released "Saving Christmas" on Nov. 14 for an initial limited time of two weeks. However, after high demand for the film, it reached an additional 100 theaters and played for almost three more weeks. Cameron himself commented on the widespread support from fans who filled theaters in order to watch "Saving Christmas" before issuing a special Christmas prayer earlier this month.
"Thank you, everyone, for your tremendous support of Saving Christmas," Cameron posted on Facebook. "One of my favorite songs is 'O Holy Night.' These words stand out: 'A thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices…' Yes! The 'thrill of hope' is the heart of Christmas and Christ's birth is the beginning of that hope. So, these next three weeks my prayer is that each one of us, with our families, would experience in a new way the hope of Christmas and become carriers of hope to those around us."
Meanwhile, in its first weekend playing in 410 theaters, "Saving Christmas" raked in a little over $1 million, according to The Wrap. While the success was not overwhelming, the box-office sales are exemplary when considering the reviews garnered by the film. And despite the extended play in theaters, "Saving Christmas" earned a poor rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the film was also voted the worst film ever on IMBD this month.
