Lauren Alaina Debuts Album 'Wildflower,' Sings About God
“American Idol” season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina has released her new album, "Wildflower," this week.
"Wildflower," the Georgia native’s debut album, includes her single “Georgia Peaches.”
The 16-year-old “may come across sweet and delicate, but vocally, she packs a punch,” the Associated Press reported.
Alaina’s album includes many coming-of-age songs such as “Tupelo,” an upbeat summertime tune, and “I’m Not One of Them,” which demands gentlemen suitors to treat a girl with respect.
“Growing Her Wings” includes lyrics about a girl dreaming about her future, and “The Middle” is a track with the message: live each day to the fullest.
On the track “Dirt Road Prayer,” Alaina demonstrates a softer sound singing of her relationship with God.
“It doesn’t matter how long it’s been, I can talk to God like He’s my best friend, take my heart and lay it down again right there, in a dirt road prayer,” she crooned.
The singer contributed her own writing to the music on “Wildflower,” co-writing the track “Funny Thing About Love.”
A strong Christian, Alaina and “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery, also Christian, became very close during the singing competition. Both country singers stayed true to who they are as Christians during the show. The two continue to be open about their faith in an environment where that is not commonly found.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine earlier this year, Alaina explained how she was able to stay grounded despite the fame that came with “American Idol.”
“I was raised really religious, and it’s a big part of my life,” explained the singer. “No matter what I go through, my faith will always be there.”
McCreery also told the magazine that Alaina is “one of a kind.”
He added, “There’s nobody else out there like her. I can promise you that.”
The relationship between Alaina and McCreery has been suspected of being more than just friends. The “Idol” stars are very fond of each other.
“I think Scotty is a really good guy. He loves Jesus and he’s super talented and I’m so happy for him,” Alaina said of the 17-year-old singer.
McCreery recently released his album, “Clear As Day,” which features his hit single, “I Love You This Big.”
The singer is proud of his Christian faith and credits God for his success. Upon winning “American Idol,” he told the audience, “I’ve got to thank the Lord first; he got me here.”
