Lauren Scruggs Receives Settlement After Horrific Propeller Accident
Lauren Scruggs has dropped her lawsuit against the company which insured the plane that almost claimed her life in December, as both parties have now reached a settlement.
The 23-year-old, who lost her left hand and eye after accidentally walking into a plane's spinning propeller, recently rejected a $200,000 settlement offer from the insurance company, Aggressive Insurance Services, and filed a lawsuit seeking a higher sum, according to TMZ.
Scruggs had listed AIS as one of the defendants in her complaint, but according to new reports both parties have reached a settlement agreement, which means that the former model is one step closer to finally putting the tragedy behind her.

On Tuesday, Scruggs' attorney confirmed that a settlement had been reached between his client and AIS, and while the terms of the settlement remain private, critics suspect that the sum is significantly higher than the initial $200,000 offer.
Scruggs, a fashion blogger originally from Plano, Texas, had her world turned upside down on Dec. 3 when she stepped out of a small plane and into its spinning propeller, causing severe facial and bodily injuries.
The plane's pilot and family friend, Curt Richmond, was not responsible for the accident, reported MSN. The board did acknowledge that he should have shut down the plane's engine sooner, according to The National Transportation Safety Board.
The Scruggs family publicly confirmed that they did not hold Richmond responsible for the tragedy, and now that AIS has accepted responsibility for the incident, they are finally able to move forward with their lives.
"Lauren's taking one day at a time, but she finds it hard to be patient at times. She wants to 'sprint' through this ordeal. And frankly we do too," her mother, Cheryl, previously wrote on Lauren's Caring Bridge website.
Scruggs, who now wears a prosthetic eye, continues to make a miraculous recovery since the accident and recently thanked the public for ongoing support.
"I don't know how to thank each one of you, properly, for so much love during this difficult incident in my life. My heart is so grateful beyond what I could ever imagine," Scruggs wrote in a statement posted on her website.
