Lea Michele Debut Album 'Louder' – First Look
Lea Michele is offering fans not only a first look at the cover art for her debut album "Louder," but also a first listen to its lead single, "Cannonball."
The "Glee" actress already revealed that the album would include a track honoring her late boyfriend, Cory Monteith, who was also her co-star, and from the sounds of "Cannonball," Michele's pain is clear.
"Break Down/ break down/ break down, I was scared to death, I was losing my mind," she sings in the first lyrics. "But now/ I think I found the light at the end of the tunnel."
The "Cannonball" sneak peak appeared on the actress' website one day after the cover art for "Louder" was revealed. Listen here.
Michele and Monteith had been dating over a year when the 31-year-old actor was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room in July. Monteith died from a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol.
The actress previously explained that the song "You're Mine" off of the new album was inspired her relationship with Monteith.
"The album was done and the label said, 'Do you want to add anything,'" she told Elle magazine.
Debating about whether or not to pay tribute to Monteith on the album, Michele ultimately opted to do so with "You're Mine."
"I was like, 'I might regret it if I don't," the 27-year-old told Elle. "It makes me so happy, this song. It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think of him, I play this."
"Louder" also includes the tracks "On My Way," "Burn With You," "Battlefield," "Thousand Needles," "Louder," "Cue the Rain," "Don't Let Go," "Empty Handed" and "If You Say So."
It appears that the tragic loss of Monteith has greatly influenced many of the tracks on Michele's new album.
According to some reports, "If you say so" were the last words Monteith ever spoke to Michele before his death, and the actress has the words tattooed on her rib cage.
Michele is scheduled to perform new songs from "Louder" while on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Dec. 12th at 4 p.m. EST.
