Lea Michele Named Candie's Spokeswoman

"Glee" star Lea Michele has been named the new face of the Candie's line. She is replacing Vanessa Hudgens from "High School Musical."

The company told E! News, "Lea's fans are the same as Candie's fans." Michele is the latest in a long line of representatives that include Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson, Fergie, and Jenny McCarthy.

Michele's claim to fame is the starring role of Rachel Berry on Fox's hit "Glee." Berry is a semi-neurotic teen with dreams of starring on Broadway. Michele has made the character her own and was nominated for an Emmy for "Outstanding Lead Actress." Michele most recently appeared in the holiday movie "New Year's Eve" alongside actors Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Robert DeNiro.

"Glee" premiered in May 2009 and has won various accolades and awards but has also been criticized for sending anti-Christian messages through its support of homosexual relationships and alternative lifestyles. The show has received much praise for its use of music and performance, especially since it is one of the first shows of its kind.

Candie's was founded in 1981 and features such items as perfume, jewelry, clothing, and shoes. The Candie's Foundation was spun off in 2011 to fight teenage pregnancy. Bristol Palin, Jenny McCarthy, and Hayden Panettiere have all served as ambassadors for the foundation, which urges young girls to wait until they are much older to have children of their own.
