Leigh Nash, former front woman for Grammy-nominated band Sixpence None the Richer, is currently at work writing and recording her first solo album.
For Nash, who began her career at 15 with Sixpence, the new album, not only shares her voice with the audience, but also her heart, according to a news release.
Its really wonderful to be able to put your whole self into something, Nash says. As a band creating new material is really a group effort; there is a certain lack of control one has as an artist. Now, I am able to take my experiences from the band and from life to make an album that is completely me, inside and out.
While this is her first solo effort, Nash, has been featured on other non-Sixpence projects, including I Need To Be Next To You for the movie Bounce and collaborations with Los Straightjackets (2001s Sing Along with Los Straitjackets) and Delerium, for whom she wrote and performed the song "Innocente (Falling in Love), which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Dance Charts.
Nash's new album is due out next year on Word Records. Previews of the album can be heard at Leighs My Space.
