LG Viper to Be First 4G LTE Device on Sprint
The upcoming LG Viper will be the first smartphone on Sprint to be 4G LTE.
The device is quite impressive, sporting a fairly light frame at 5-ounces and includes NFC (near-field communications), Google Wallet, HD gaming and video chatting.
Other specifications the LTE Viper include a 1.2GHz dual-core processer, 1GB of RAM, a 4-inch WVGA touch screen display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a front camera, and a 5-megapixel rear shooter.
It can also function as a mobile hotspot supporting up to 5 other devices at one time sharing both 3G and 4G LTE simultaneously.
The device is fairly affordable priced at just $100 with a new 2-year service agreement on Sprint. The carrier will begin offering pre-orders for the device on April 12.
The Viper will also come with 50GB of free cloud storage and sharing from the Box app along with a 4GB card in the microSD slot and 32GB of internal memory.
It will be the first device to run on Sprint's new 4G LTE network making it a valid competitor for some of the top smartphones on AT&T and Verizon including the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and Galaxy Nexus.
Apple recently released the new iPad that runs on 4G LTE networks that is available for both AT&T and Verizon. Sprint could be planning to have its own version of the tablet.
LG also released a 4G LTE smartphone on AT&T last year with the Nitro HD featuring one of the first true high-definition displays in the market.
AT&T's LTE network received a jump start at the end of last year with the HTC Vivid and Galaxy S2 Skyrocket.
The next generation iPhone is expected to be an LTE device as well so Sprint is probably trying to have its network up and running before it launches later on this year.
