Lil Za Defends Himself After Arrest In Justin Bieber's Home

Lil Za, the 19-year-old rapper who was arrested during a raid of his friend Justin Bieber's home Tuesday, is defending himself after gaining unwarranted public attention.

Lil Za, whose real name is Xavier Smith, was released on Tuesday night from the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Station after he was linked to a white substance found in the singer's home that is thought to be cocaine or a form of MDMA, MTV reports.

The numerous media reports caused Za to tweet about the recent events.

"Honestly, the media is making me someone I'm not. But only those in my shoes can relate," Za tweeted. "These ppl get paid to make you look bad. Some stuff I've done has been wrong yes. but look at the position I'm in and the color of my skin."

He went on to tweet about the alleged cocaine that he was arrested for being in possession of while in Bieber's home.

"Cocaine? Really," the rapper questioned. "All this time I was home in tx nobody gave a (expletive) about what Za is doing... soon as he gets to La he's all over the news. (SIC)"

L.A. County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore held a press conference Tuesday where he told reporters about the investigation that led to Za's arrest. However, he said Bieber was not connected with the drugs found and was cooperative with the search of his home by about a dozen officers.

While Lil Za remains the only person to be arrested in connection with the raid thus far, Whitmore made it clear that the investigation was far from over and that Bieber was not yet exonerated. The law enforcement spokesperson explained why the investigation into eggs thrown at the singer's neighbor's home was being taken so seriously.

"The houses in that neighborhood are of a quality that any damage is going to be extensive. So they had some imported wood and brick and that was significantly damaged," Whitmore said, according to E! News.
