Lindsay Lohan New Film 'Canyons' Trailer Released
Lindsay Lohan's latest film "The Canyons" finally surfaced on Thursday after several delays and problems with production.
The trailer for the thriller features Lohan, James Deen, and Nolan Gerard Funk was posted to YouTube and quickly made waves.
In the one-minute, 27-second clip, Lohan makes her comeback to the acting scene as Tara, a modern actress caught up in scandal.
Interestingly, the role is not far from 26-year-old star's real life, as the actress has been embroiled in legal woes in recent years.
Last year, Lohan was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service for misdemeanor theft and probation violation in February 2011 after stealing a necklace from a jewelry store, and has been involved in a number of run-ins with the law this year as well.
Furthermore, the actress is currently in rehab, where she receiving treatment for her addiction to Adderall.
Lohan had taken Adderall, which is normally prescribed to those with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), for years. After entering court-mandated treatment for addiction, the actress reportedly refused to give up the medication, stating that she needs it.
Now, at her second rehab facility within 90 days, Lohan has gone without the drug and is feeling fine, according to TMZ.
Meanwhile, many Lohan fans hope that her recent improvement in rehab along with the trailer release of "The Canyons" really does mark a comeback for the actress.
"Canyons" is directed by Paul Schrader and is due in theaters Aug. 2.
The director recently opened up about working with Lohan for the film, comparing the star to Marilyn Monroe, who Lohan portrayed in Lifetime's "Liz & Dick" last year.
"Similarities? Tardiness, unpredictability, tantrums, absences, neediness, psychodrama- yes, all that," Schrader wrote in an article posted to FilmComment.com.
"But something more, that thing that keeps you watching someone onscreen, that thing you can't take your eyes off of, that magic, that mystery," the director added.
