Liz Lemon Wedding Set for '30 Rock' Thursday
As "30 Rock" prepares to end its final season, rumors have sparked that the series' main character Liz Lemon will finally marry.
Portrayed by the show's creator Tina Fey, Lemon will supposedly tie the knot with her boyfriend Criss during a ceremony that Fey promises "won't be creepy."
A Save the Date invitation from the upcoming nuptials was released, starting with Lemon's famous saying, "What the what?!"
"Ms. Elizabeth Miervaldis Lemon presents herself to be married to Mr. Crisstopher Rick Chross," the invite continued, according to The Wrap.
The invitation noted that Lemon is marrying, "but not in a creepy way that perpetuates the idea that brides are virgins and women are property."
"She's 42," it read. "Whatever. It's not big deal. Bring your own snacks."
The special episode entitled, "Mazel Tov, Dummies!" is set to air on NBC on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. EST.
On Friday, fans of the television series have taken to social media sites about news of their beloved, awkward character's wedding.
"Liz Lemon is getting married," Rue La La posted. "We just got so excited."
Actress Gillian Jacobs posted, "Wonderful news, dummies!"
"30 Rock" first aired in 2006 and has seen seven successful seasons on NBC. The series was modeled after Fey's real-life experiences as head writer of "Saturday Night Live."
It stars Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jane Krakowski, and many others as cast and staff members at "TGS with Tracy Jordan," a live sketch comedy show.
After critical acclaim, "30 Rock" won Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series for three consecutive years from 2007 to 2009.
The name of the series refers to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, the address of the GE Building, in which NBC Studios are located.
