LSU Fraternity Causes Outrage with Sign, Promptly Issues Apology
A Louisiana State University fraternity has issued a public apology for a tasteless sign outside of their frat house mocking the Kent St. massacre more than 40 years ago.
The Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity decided to draw attention to the Kent State Golden Flashes as they were scheduled to play the LSU Tigers last weekend. But fans and students alike were appalled at the lack of sensitivity aimed toward one of the worst national tragedies in American history.
The message on the banner read: "Getting massacred is nothing new to Kent State."
The fraternity has already issued an apology to Kent State. Still, LSU may decide to punish the fraternity for the distasteful banner, according to KSLA.
"LSU certainly does not condone this insensitive behavior and poor judgment by the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. LSU officials have spoken with the fraternity and believe that the students now understand the gravity of their actions. The students have issued a formal apology to Kent State University. LSU is also working with local and national DKE leaders in an effort to prevent this type of behavior in the future," university officials said in a statement.
Unfortunately the members of the fraternity seem to have a problem with posting inappropriate and insensitive messages ahead of football games.
Earlier this month, the fraternity mocked the chemical gas attack in Syria with a banner that read: "LSU vs. UAB It's gonna be a gas. Syriasly."
