Macaulay Culkin Denies Heroin Addiction, Actor Challenged to Take Blood Test
Macaulay Culkin has denied reports that he is dying and addicted to heroin in a public statement via his representatives.
The 31-year-old former child star was recently accused of battling addiction to illegal narcotics and prescription drugs but his reps insist that the report, which was posted in the National Enquirer, is "without merit."
"[It's] not only categorically without merit, but it is also impossibly and ridiculously fictitious," a representative told TMZ.com. "We beseech the responsible media to consider the source and its reputation and to please not perpetuate this destructive and insulting story by pursuing it any further."

In response to this statement, the Enquirer has not only stood by the report but the tabloid recently challenged the "Home Alone" star to take a blood test in a bid to support his claim.
"Should Macaulay's representatives continue to deny The ENQUIRER's accurate and detailed report, we are ready to offer him the opportunity to take a blood test administered by an independent medical lab," the tabloid wrote in a statement on its website Thursday.
The tabloid, which often receives legal threats and criticism over allegedly false reports, claims that Culkin has a $6000-a-month drug habit and six months to live.
At least two alleged friends of Culkin's were quoted as supporting the theory that the actor's drug use has spiraled out of control following his 2011 split from actress Mila Kunis and his career woes.
"Macaulay Culkin is surely dying. He's addicted to heroin, oxycodone, Percocet and Vicodin. I have witnessed his drug taking, which has escalated over the past year and a half to the point where he needs serious help," one source reportedly told the Enquirer.
The tabloid went on, comparing Culkin's alleged habit to that of the late Whitney Houston, and urged him to get help.
"Our advice to Macaulay is to seek professional help to avoid the same tragic fate of other beloved celebrities, including Whitney Houston who died earlier this year," the statement read.
