Man on Fire Runs Into Maryland Church; Kills Pastor and Himself
A man who ran into a Maryland church's food pantry while on fire has ended up killing himself and the church's pastor on Tuesday.
Ocean City authorities confirmed that 51-year-old Reverend David Dingwall, the pastor of St. Paul's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, died based on injuries sustained during the fire on Nov. 26.
Heather Cook, who works with the Episcopal Diocese, said after the man, whose clothes were caught on fire rushed in, he grabbed another volunteer.
In the midst of the commotion, Cook said that Dingwall rushed to the back of the church to grab his computer.
"He ran back in to get his computer and I think that's when he was probably caught in the smoke," Cook told CBS Baltimore. "We would be very grateful [if people would] hold us up in prayer, particularly his family."
Authorities have not released the name of the second man killed in the fire.
While the fire quickly broke out into a three-alarm blaze, once fire crews arrived on scene they managed to bring it under control quickly, according to The Baltimore Sun.
